Welcome
to a new academic year. We hope that you are
enjoying a successful start to your term and
that you will rejoin your ever-growing support
network at our 2007 Fall General Assembly.
Mark your calendars to be in San Jose on November
9th thru 11th at the Doubletree
Hotel San Jose.
We will feature a rich mixture of activities
and topics: keynote speakers and breakout sessions
for the beginner and the veteran. You will
have the opportunity to talk with other students
from around the state as you craft resolutions
for Sunday’s voting session where we
debate and adopt policy. For new delegates
(and those just needing a refresher), we will
also feature a nuts-and-bolts pre-session,
where we will review the ins and outs of the
Student Senate and your role in the General
Assembly.
In “Can You Hear Us Now? Speaking Loud!
Speaking Strong! Speaking Together!” we
will explore some of the hot topics and ongoing
issues facing our system, the current discussion
surrounding them, and some of the possible
solutions. We will begin to discuss ways in
which we can shape new directions to these
issues and reaffirm our role in governance
as we try to create conversations that will
resonate throughout the year.
I encourage you and your local senate to be
heard in this discussion. Register now
before October 29, 2007
and invite your entire senate to attend!
Hotel reservations can be made at the
Double Tree by calling 408-453-4000 or 800-222-TREE
(8733)
before October 19, 2007. The rate
for the duration of the event is $99.00 per
night.
You may also
review the pre-session materials and preliminary
schedule as they become
available. Speak loud about the issues
with
your local
senate. Speak strong with your regional
colleagues at your Region Meetings. Attend
the assembly
and join us as we speak together at the
2007 Fall General Assembly.
On behalf of the Student Senate Council, we
are eagerly looking forward to joining you
in San Jose.
Cordially,
Andrew Anzalone
