SUBJECT: Student Senate General Assembly --
May 6 - 7, 2006
As mentioned in the April 5, 2006, memorandum
emailed by Linda Michalowski, the next step in
the Student Senate Governance formation process
will be ratification of the Constitution, discussion
of procedures and bylaws, and election of 2006-07
regional representatives. For this purpose the
Academic Senate for California Community Colleges
is hosting the first Student Senate General Assembly
on May 6-7, 2006, at the
Hyatt Islandia in San Diego. The event will
begin on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with registration
and conclude by 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.
This is your opportunity to make sure your voice
is heard. Each college will have one voting delegate
to represent your school's student body and will
play the critical role of a founding parent of
this burgeoning democracy. Please don't pass
it up!
Please join the voting delegates and students
from other campuses and student association advisors,
to discuss, debate, and vote on the proposed
constitution for the new Student Senate of California
Community Colleges.
You can register
for the event and request hotel
accommodations by completing the attached form
and returning it to the Academic Senate Office
by April 19th, in order to secure reduced hotel
rates. Please note that the hotel room rates
are significantly higher after that date.
We highly encourage student leaders from every
community college and their advisors to participate
in this historic event.
