Each year the Academic Senate
appoints faculty members to the statewide Standing
Committees, Chancellor's Office advisory committees,
and task forces. We actively solicit nominations
to serve from faculty through plenary sessions,
institutes, mailings, and personal contact. Last
year the Senate appointed more than 80 faculty
members to serve at the state level in shaping
statewide policies. However, we still had more
requests for faculty to serve than we had faculty
willing to serve. We need your help!
If you are willing to serve
on a statewide committee or would like to nominate
others to serve, please complete the Application/Nomination
to Serve form (PDF). We are particularly interested
in bringing new faculty into leadership opportunities,
as well as utilizing those with prior expertise
at the state level. There is a full range of academic
and professional concerns for faculty interested
in serving.
The timeline for appointments
begins in August and continues throughout the
year. You can find information on the Senate committee
appointment process here.
Please note that completing a Nomination/Application-to-serve
Form does not commit you to service on a committee
but instead informs us of your interest in serving.
Committee Chairs or the Senate Office will contact
those who have been selected to fill openings
on committees.
