Change, also known as Old Man Time's personal
steam roller, is happening at a greater pace
with each new school year. Are your students
the same learning cohort as that of five years
ago? Some are and some aren't which means our
populations are diversifying in unpredictable
ways. Are they as equally prepared as those of
a few moons ago? Again, yes and no, with an ever
broadening gap. And what about content, delivery
modality, teaching portability and the many amazing
new ways to engage students into learning experiences?
What would you change in your courses if your
students could be an avatar living virtually
in a comprehensive simulation of your design?
While new curriculum must respond to this frantic
tidal wave of change, so too must existing products
be equally infused as they are regularly updated.
The 2008 Academic Senate for California Community
Colleges Curriculum Institute will focus on these
and many more elements of our changing tides.
This will be offered on July
10 – 12, 2008. Please save the date now and join us as we explore
these and many more curriculum related issues.
The Curriculum Institute will be held this year
at the Sofitel
San Francisco Bay in Redwood City,
California. It is intended for faculty, particularly
curriculum chairs, and chief instructional officers
who are involved in new program development,
program revision, or technology for curriculum
development. The Institute also welcomes support
staff, teams of academic senate representatives,
curriculum committee members, articulation officers,
and administrators.
