Chancellor, California Community Colleges

Chancellor Mark Drummond assumed his new role on January 28, 2004, when then-Chancellor Thomas J. Nussbaum officially retired. Drummond, who served as chancellor of the Los Angeles Community College district from 1999 to 2004, brings to the Chancellor’s office his considerable experience with districts’ financial hardships, with unmet student needs, and with strategies for an effective administrative system needed by our colleges and communities. Research and Planning (RP) Group for California Community Colleges
The RP Group is the organization representing California community college research and planning professionals. The RP Group provides leadership in research, analysis, and planning issues for California community colleges.

The RP Group also provides support to California community college faculty and staff regarding research and planning issues through training; developing and disseminating new research tools, methodologies and approaches; and providing opportunities for networking and sharing as they will do this general session. Fourth General Session Friday, April 16 1:00 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.
Marcus Harvey,
Secretary, American Association of University Professors

Marcus Harvey, the Associate Secretary of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) here in the West Coast District, is familiar to many of us as a presenter at our colleges, as a resource to Academic Senate committees, and as regular attendee at our plenary sessions. Harvey, who also remains active in his academic field of United States history, has spoken and published widely matters of concern to us: contingent labor, intellectual property, the changing world of higher education, and the topic he will address at this general session, Academic Freedom, particularly in this post-9/11 world.
