Jonnah Laroche Scholarship
The Jonnah Laroche Memorial Scholarship, established in 1994, is presented in the memory of a past Academic Senate president to students who have made exceptional academic accomplishments. Two continuing community college students receive $500 each, and one transferring student receives $1,000. The nominating criteria emphasize the wishes of the founder of this scholarship to select students from groups that have been historically under-represented in higher education: ethnic minorities and persons with disabilities. The winners of the Scholarship are honored at an Academic Senate Plenary Session each year. The award presentations are staggered spring or fall each year, thus the call for nominations presented at the Fall Plenary Session are sent out in September of even years for Areas C and D, and in January of odd years for awards presented to students from Areas A and B at the Spring Plenary Session.
