The 2012 Curriculum Institute will be held at the Hyatt San Francisco Airport.

The Curriculum Institute provides expert advice for new and veteran curriculum committee chairs and members. In addition to the traditional focus on upholding quality and encouraging effective practices, this year’s institute will explore reactions and responses to the recommendations of the SB 1143 Student Success Task Force and other outside influences on curriculum.  Teams of five members per college are encouraged to attend. Registration for this event closes quickly, so make plans to early to join us in Burlingame this July.

The Single and Double registration fees include a hotel room on Thursday and Friday evening only. The Senate will book a hotel room for you for these nights.

Please note that the room block for the Curriculum Institute has sold out. You may still register for the Institute only if you'd like to attend. 

The cancellation deadline is June 13, 2012. After June 13th, registration fees will increase to $755, $605, and $380 respectively. Please review our cancellation policy before registering. Limit of five registrants per college.

Step 2: Payment Instructions

Checks should be made payable the Academic Senate.

Payment in full is required prior to attending the event. Attendees must pay before June 13, 2012 in order to secure the early registration rate.

Check, cash, and credit card payments will be accepted on site for the on-site registration amounts.

Location

The Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport is located at 1333 Bayshore Hwy, Burlingame, CA 94010.The closest airport to the hotel is the San Francisco International Airport. The Hyatt has a limited free shuttle service on demand from the airport. The shuttle is available every day, 24-hours a day and runs every 10-15 minutes. Take your luggage to the Departures Level, center island, and look for the area marked "Hotel Shuttle." The shuttle is a large bus marked "Hyatt Regency and Marriott". Parking and in-room internet is complimenary for Curriculum Institute attendees.

Agenda

An agenda will be posted soon. For travel purposes, please plan to arrive for registration on Thursday by noon. The institute will end on Saturday by noon. A light lunch will be served on Thursday; breakfast and lunch on Friday; and breakfast on Saturday. Dinner will be on your own for both Thursday and Friday. 

SLO Pre-Session

The Senate will host a pre-session on student learning outcomes and assessment right before the Curriculum Institute. More information is posted here.

Wednesday Overnight Accommodations

Currently, there is a large event in the San Francisco area resulting in a lack of overnight accommodations for the night of July 11, 2012. A limited supply of Wednesday night stays are available at the Hyatt for $209/night plus tax. Please contact the Senate office if you would like to secure one of these rooms. (events@asccc.org)

The Doubletree San Francisco Airport has opened a courtesy block for SLO attendees on Wednesday, July 11th. The rate is $189/night plus tax. There is a limited amount of rooms available at this rate, so please book quickly. You may book by visiting their website. You may also call 650-373-2221 and ask for the "Academic Senate for CA Community Colleges" room block. The Doubletree is approximately a half mile from the Hyatt.
