City Center area along Broadway. The Franklin Building may be accessed
from Broadway via a walkway about halfway between 11th and 12th Streets,
close to the historic Key Building.
Shuttles from Airports:
Many shuttle companies (Bayporter Express, East Bay Connection,
Bay Shuttle, RBJ Airporter) operate from both Oakland International
Airport and San Francisco International Airport and charge reasonable
rates for round trips and for riders sharing shuttles with other passengers.
Companies change ownership and fares; therefore, it is advisable to
contact your travel agent or an airlines/airport Web site for telephone
numbers and information, including reservations and rates. Unreserved
shuttles from several of these companies may also be found outside terminals
at ground transportation (ask someone for directions on the way out),
circling the airport every 10-15 minutes. An attendant/dispatcher with
a hand phone is usually at the shuttle "island" to contact
shuttle drivers and group together passengers who are traveling in the
same direction.
BART from the Airports:
Oakland International Airport
Buses (AIRBART shuttle) run from Oakland International Airport to
the Coliseum BART station, every 10 minutes. Fare is $2.; exact change
is required for the ticket machine located inside the terminal,
to one side of the doorway leading out to ground transportation. The
bus stop is outside the main terminal at a center "island."
At the Coliseum stop, switch to BART. Ticket machines inside
the BART station post the fare to Oakland City Center-12th Street stop,
nearest the Franklin Street building. You will need change and $1 bills.
Purchase ticket, insert in turnstile; remove and save ticket to exit
at Oakland City Center-12th Street stop from either a Richmond- or Pittsburg/Bay
Point-bound train.
San Francisco International Airport
(SFO)
Bus-BART from SFO is not recommended because of time and delays.
(Round-trip on a shuttle is more convenient.)
SamTrans--From SFO take SamTrans 3X bus to Colma BART
station. Purchase ticket, insert in turnstile; remove and save ticket
to exit (at Oakland City Center-12th Street stop) from either a Richmond-
or Pittsburg/Bay Point-bound train. Both trains stop at 12th Street
in Oakland.

There is also elevator service between the West side of
Broadway and 11th Streets and the BART station.
Note: During renovations of the historic building,
and construction of a new hotel, you may need to exit at a different
exit on the other side of Broadway. The back door of the Franklin Street
building is closed, and the sidewalks are closed and fenced, so you
will need to cross Broadway and walk up the opposite side of 11th Street
to cross over to UCOP.
