The ASCCC president as a member fo the Consultation Council's Accreditation Task Group brought forth concerns to ACCJC. This concern was included.
Whereas, One of the purposes of an accreditation team visit is to verify the accuracy of a college self-study;
Whereas, Accreditation visiting teams are no longer required to observe a selection of classroom activities; and
Whereas, Direct observation of classroom activities is a vital component of any verification process;
Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges urge the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges to restore the direct observation of instruction by making classroom visits a required component of accreditation visiting team activities; and
Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges assert that the purpose of observing classrooms during accreditation team visits is to assess the general quality of the learning environment experienced by students in the classroom.
