Whereas community college faculty is committed to a collegiate atmosphere, where each college conducts its business affairs in a socially responsible manner, and

Whereas child labor and forced labor are flagrant in some apparel industries, and

Whereas it is not unreasonable to require that those who use college names comply with reasonable ethical standards,

Resolved that the Academic Senate urge local senates to work with other college constituencies to have their district board adopt a code of conduct for all vendors and manufacturers of apparel and other products sold in college bookstores and/or bearing college logos to ensure that the vendors and manufacturers observe basic human rights and worker protections, responsible practices with regard to the age of the workers and appropriate environmental protections.
