Issue still comes up sometimes but we have addressed it.
Whereas, Section 53203 of Title 5 states that the appointment of faculty members to serve on college or district committees, task forces or other groups dealing with academic and professional matters shall be made after consultation with the chief executive officer by the local academic senate; and
Whereas, There have been instances of faculty serving on state committees, task forces or other groups dealing with academic and professional matters that have not been appointed by the Academic Senate;
Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges work with the Chancellor's Office to ensure that appointment of faculty members to serve on state committees, task forces or other groups dealing with academic and professional matters shall be made by the Academic Senate, except for those positions that are designated as appointments by other statewide faculty organizations.
