In President's Updates and other messages sent to local senates.

Whereas, The activities olfaction 2000 (A2K) in spring 2000 and Campus Equity Week in Fall 2001 heightened awareness of the academic and professional issues surrounding the improper use of temporary faculty assignments in the California community colleges;

Whereas, The Academic Senate for California Community Colleges supported the local, state and national campaigns of A2K and Campus Equity Week 2001; and

Whereas, Campus Equity Week 2003 has been set as an international week of activities in academic communities throughout North America for October 27-31, 2003;

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges support the Campus Equity Week 2003 campaign at the local, state and national levels; and

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges urge local senates to become actively involved with local educational and outreach efforts of Campus Equity Week 2003 regarding the academic and professional issues surrounding the structures and use of temporary faculty assignments as discussed in the Academic Senate paper Part-Time Faculty: A Principled Perspective as adopted by the Academic Senate at Spring 2002 Plenary Session.
