A survey was completed and the findings were reported at the Spring 2000Plenary Session.
Whereas there appears to be a great variety of practices in the granting of equivalency at the various California community colleges, including the composition of the equivalency committee; the procedures followed for part-time, interim full-time, and regular full-time faculty; and the degree of local academic senate involvement in the granting of equivalency process,
Resolved that the Academic Senate direct the Executive Committee to conduct a survey of all California community colleges regarding the current practices they are following in the granting of equivalency, and
Resolved that the Academic Senate direct the Executive Committee to include in the survey the following data:
a. the procedures followed in the granting of equivalency for part-time,
interim full-time, and regular full-time faculty;
b. the composition of the equivalency committee;
c. the reporting, if any, of the equivalency committee dispensations; and
d. the involvement and integration of the local academic senate in the granting-of-equivalency process, and
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community
Colleges report the findings of the survey at the Fall 2000 Plenary Session.
