Dear Colleagues,

In an attempt to flatten the curve of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Governor Newsom ordered statewide cancellations of events of more than 250 people, and the CDC released additional guidelines suggesting that gatherings larger than 50 people be cancelled. The Academic Senate for California Community Colleges is heeding the guidance and has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Career and Noncredit Education Institute. The health and wellbeing of our staff, attendees, and community comes first and we understand that many of our colleges and faculty face additional loads, as colleges transition to remote learning or make the difficult decision of closing the campus. The Academic Senate is here to support you during this time. We are currently putting together some resources to distribute to the field to help support the transitions taking place locally.

If you haven’t already, please contact the San Mateo Marriott to ensure your hotel reservation has been cancelled. The Senate Office is taking care of the registration refunds and will connect with all registered attendees on this shortly. **Please do not put a refund request into the Eventbrite system as we can no longer process them this way. We are working with Eventbrite on getting all refunds processed in a timely manner. We ask that you allow at least 30-45 days for refund processing.**

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. If you have any questions, please feel free to direct them to me- krystinne@asccc.org.

Take care of yourself and take care of each other,
Krystinne

At this time, we understand that faculty need to focus on their students.**

The ASCCC Guided Pathways Task Force is pleased to announce the upcoming Spring 2020 Guided Pathways Workshops. We encourage sending college teams that include the ASCCC Guided Pathways Liaison, the Academic Senate President, and faculty working in guided pathways implementation seeking professional development in student services and data evaluation. The workshops are highly interactive and are designed to provide professional development for faculty in three specific areas:

  • Strengthening local implementation with Guided Pathways Liaisons
  • Defining roles of Counseling faculty, paraprofessionals and faculty advisers
