Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges direct the Executive Committee to identify the source, history, and desired action in a cover sheet on all documents presented for discussion and/or action at area meetings and at Sessions.

Directory Listings

Whereas colleges are entering the age of electronic communication, and

Whereas many faculty have Internet addresses and InfoNet user names, and

Whereas all colleges have fax numbers,

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges direct the Executive Committee to include Internet addresses, InfoNet user names, and Fax numbers in all future Academic Senate directories.

Election of North and South Representatives

Whereas currently the entire Executive Committee is elected on an at-large basis, and

Whereas electing regional representatives directly by members of that region would allow a greater responsiveness by those representatives to their local senates, and

Whereas regionally elected representatives would be carrying forward regional concerns to the Executive Committee better informing the Executive Committee on local matters,

Hayward Award Process

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges encourage the Area Representatives to include a student representative on the final selection committee for the Hayward Award.

Campus Visits by the Executive Committee

Whereas local senates are struggling with the implementation of the components of AB 1725, and

Whereas many local senates do not currently have a process in place for disseminating information about the mandates,

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges direct the Executive Committee to make scheduled visits in addition to technical assistance visits to local senates to respond to the needs of the local senates regarding their responsibilities to implement the mandates of AB 1725, and

Governance Breakout

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges conduct a breakout session at the Fall 1995 Session to assist local senates in writing or rewriting effective shared governance agreements.

Part Time Faculty Inclusion on All Academic Senates

Whereas the welfare of the California community college student is dependent on full-and part-time faculty, and

Whereas part-time faculty must have the same degrees and certificates for employment as full-time faculty, and

Whereas full-time faculty's perceptions are not necessarily those of part-time faculty,

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges urge local senates to include part-time faculty as local academic senate members.

Shared Governance

Whereas AB 1725 legislated the rightful role of faculty in academic and professional matters, and

Whereas the Association of California Community College Administrators (ACCCA) has recently surveyed its membership on their opinion of shared governance, and

Whereas ACCCA's legislative agenda appears to be directed at changing some aspects of AB 1725, including shared governance,
