The rules have been updated and are posted on this website.

Whereas, Formally stating and assessing student learning outcomes (SLOs) is required by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) 2002 Accreditation Standards, and SLOs and assessment have curricular and program implications clearly defined as an area of faculty responsibility in AB 1725 (1988);

Whereas, AB 1725 and multiple Academic Senate resolutions (S95 2.01, S95 2.02, F95 2.01, F96 2.01, S98 2.02, F02 2.03, F02 2.08, F03 2.02, F04 2.01, F04 2.04, F05 2.02, S06 13.01, S07 2.01, S07 2.02) have directed the Academic Senate to give direction to faculty about their responsibilities and participation in accreditation;

Whereas, The Ad Hoc Accreditation and Student Learning Outcomes Committee has operated for nearly two years, completing two institutes in 2007, is in the process for planning another institute for 2008, and has authored a paper; and

Whereas, Accreditation and student learning outcomes are permanent aspects of faculty responsibility, not ad hoc or temporary in nature;

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges change its Rules to add the Accreditation and Student Learning Outcomes Committee as a standing committee of the Academic Senate. MSC Disposition: Local Senates
