Whereas the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges has historically supported affirmative action in all avenues of human endeavor including hiring, education, and societal issues, and

Whereas affirmative action programs assist in giving women, minorities, and disabled persons an equal opportunity in hiring, education, and receipt of government contracts, and

Whereas affirmative action programs help to diversity' the workforce, and

Whereas affirmative action programs were implemented to correct the results of past discrimination,

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges reaffirm our support of affirmative action and direct the Executive Committee to present information and workshops to provide accurate information about affirmative action programs,

Resolved that the Executive Committee include in such workshops the rationale and data used by those who oppose affirmative action.
