Amend by replacing #5 in the "Response" which reads: 5. Validation of hiring criteria may be done by, among other methods, a group of faculty in the discipline in question who, after discussion with an affirmative action professional, certify that in their professional opinion the possession of the quality in question is either necessary to adequate performance in the discipline in. . .

Replace with the following: Locally established qualifications beyond state minimum qualifications are shown to be job related through a process consistent with the requirements of federal law. This process is to be developed on each campus with faculty from within the discipline and outside the department/division with the participation of an Affirmation Action professional. When this process has been completed, selection may begin even where underrepresentation continues to exist in the applicant pool.
