Resolved that the Academic Senate urge local academic senates, in consultation with the counseling faculty, to review and adopt the principles outlined in the Academic Senate's 1994 paper "The Role of Counseling Faculty in the California Community Colleges," and

Resolved that the Academic Senate urge local academic senates to use the definitions and description of counseling functions in the Academic Senate's 1994 paper "The Role of Counseling Faculty in the California Community Colleges" to draw distinctions between the role of counseling faculty and the appropriate uses of non-faculty paraprofessionals, sometimes known as counselor assistants, information technicians or educational advisors.
