Certificates of Proficiency

Whereas the Tones Act requires community colleges to issue certificates of proficiency in ESL and Basic Skills, and

Whereas the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges has opposed issuing basic skills certificates,

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges direct the Executive Committee to have a breakout at a future session on community colleges' awarding of certificates of proficiency in ESL and Basic Skills including in what areas certificates are awarded and what levels of achievement are required for the awarding of certificates.
