Forward to Accrediting Commission--The Commission indicated their intention to prepare a companion document, the Guide to Self Study and Reports to the Commission. While each standard will be addressed in the companion document, the Executive director indicated "With respect to outcomes, the California and Hawaii system offices will be preparing printouts of reported data for each college. An institutional analysis of these reports will be a required part of each study."
Whereas the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges in its proposed Standard Four on degree and certificate programs refers to "outcomes" and "competencies" without clearly explaining how these will be demonstrated in the self-study and verified by the visiting team,
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Colleges urge the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges to rewrite its proposed Standard Four on "degree and certificate programs" in order to avoid duplication and to clarify terms like "outcomes" and "competencies."
