Whereas AB 1725 (Chapter 973, Statutes of 1988) states, "...that by fiscal year 1992-93, 30% of all new hires in the California Community Colleges as a system will be ethnic minorities," and
Whereas districts are including classified and administrative hires when reporting hires in this category, and
Whereas the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges is concerned that such practices may reduce the number of ethnic minority faculty hires,
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges urge local senates to adopt the goal that at least 30% of all new faculty hires should be ethnic minorities (AB 1725, Section 87107a, Chapter 973, Statutes of 1988) and
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges recommend that local academic senates urge their local boards of trustees to adopt a policy affirming the Academic Senate's position that at least 30% of all new faculty hires should be ethnic minorities.
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges recommend to the Board of Governors that it seek legislation to clarify the intent of AB 1725 (Chapter 973, Statutes of 1988), Section 25, 87107a, to mean that at least 30% of all new faculty hires should be ethnic minorities.
