Items 1 and 2 are already addressed by current ASCCC procedures and bylaws. Item 3 is generally adhered to with reasonable exceptions depending on committee and ASCCC needs.
Whereas, The Academic Senate for California Community Colleges should always strive to better represent all the state's community colleges;
Whereas, California community colleges should always make an effort to include a wide array of points of view; and
Whereas, The quality and success of the work produced by committees is dependent on the objective formation of committees;
Resolved, That the Academic Senate adopt a policy for the formation of committees which shall include:
(1) a clear process for selecting or rejecting committee members;
(2) a clear process that indicates who makes the appointments to committees; and
(3) a clear process for informing members of their acceptance or rejection not later than September of the year in which appointments are made.
