Whereas the faculty of the California Community Colleges are committed to the success and smooth implementation of the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC), and

Whereas many academic and practical problems remain to be worked out before community college faculty can effectively teach IGETC classes and counsel students about this transfer option,

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges direct its representatives to demand that the Intersegmental Committee of Academic Senates (ICAS) continue the IGETC phase-in period until:
a) a written appeal process is agreed to as promised which formally includes community college faculty;
b) a plan for allocating adequate resources for the implementation and review process is formulated (including the specific responsibilities of each segment's Chancellor's Office and staff);
c) an intersegmental multidisciplinary conference of faculty experts in critical thinking and composition be called to evaluate academically the critical thinking/English composition requirement and its consequences for students.
