Status Report

This is an ongoing concern and is included in the ASCCC three-year Strategic Plan 2015 - 2018.  

Whereas, The Higher Education Act of 2008 has called for the establishment of a new committee, the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity, Advisory Committee (in this section referred to as the "to assess the process of accreditation and the institutional eligibility and certification of such institutions of higher education (as defined in section 102) under Title IV";

Whereas, The Academic Senate for California Community Colleges has a long history of working closely and successfully with other constituency groups and agencies; and

Whereas, This new committee has the potential to impose or implement policies either favorable or unfavorable to positions held by the Academic Senate, but any such committee can be strategically influenced both in terms of who is appointed as members and in what decisions they make;

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges work with other state entities to influence the outcomes and decisions made by the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity.
