Whereas the theme and focus of the fall session of the Academic Senate is new majority students, new majority faculty, and

Whereas the Academic Senate recognizes the need for instructional strategies to insure the success of culturally diverse students,

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges urge local faculty, under the leadership of their local senates, to support workshops and programs financed through staff development funds, program improvement funds, and sabbatical projects, to enhance classroom instruction by assisting faculty to become aware of, and encourage the utilization of, essential elements of instruction such as teaching to the objective, modeling and practice time, active participation, cooperative learning, and awareness of cultural differences or stereotypes and bias.
