Whereas the changing demographics of California require improvement of multicultural understanding, appreciation, and sensitivity of its citizenry, and

Whereas the burgeoning economic business and trade between Pacific Rim countries demands a basic understanding of their culture and language, and

Whereas the community college is a microcosm of the community it serves,

Resolved that local senates encourage the internationalization of the curriculum, and

Resolved that the Academic Senate consider a future conference breakout session on the needs, benefits, and successful strategies for internationalizing the curriculum of California Community Colleges.
