Status Report

I don't think this one is much if an issue now.

Whereas, Budget bill SB 77 (2005) provided much needed funding to community college nursing programs but based that funding upon a linkage to the use of the Advanced Degree in Nursing (ADN) Prerequisite Study formula;

Whereas, Title 5 is clear that community college faculty and the local academic senate have the responsibility for curriculum and validation of prerequisites needed to support student success; and

Whereas, The ADN Prerequisite Study formula may negatively impact the values of access and diversity expressed in the community college mission and strongly supported by the Academic Senate;

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges advocate and reaffirm with the Legislature that the faculty has the primary role and expertise on issues of curriculum and validation of prerequisites needed for student success. MSC Disposition: System Office, Local Senates
