Whereas the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges recognizes that an increasing number of students are enrolled in noncredit basic skills and noncredit ESL courses, and
Whereas these students are generally new Californians who require vigor and vitality in college support services to ensure their success in transfer and vocational courses, and
Whereas it is critical that these students be prepared for transfer and vocational coursework, and
Whereas noncredit ESL and noncredit basic skills students have traditionally been excluded from campus student service programs which improve successful matriculation to further educational pursuits, and
Whereas past legislation addressing matriculation of students in California Community Colleges has excluded noncredit students,
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges explore access to existing matriculation programs for students in noncredit basic skills, noncredit ESL, and noncredit vocational courses, and explore additional matriculation programs for students in noncredit basic skills, noncredit ESL and noncredit vocational courses.
