Whereas Gov. Wilson, through an executive order and a lawsuit, is seeking to end all affirmative action programs in educational programs targeting historically underrepresented minorities and women in California Community Colleges, and
Whereas these actions constitute a direct violation of academic freedom and joint governance procedures,
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges reaffirm its support of affirmative action and oppose the actions of Gov. Wilson to undermine affirmative action, and
Resolved that the Executive Committee issue a press release outlining reasons for the objections to Gov. Wilson's positions on affirmative action.
