Whereas the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges recognizes the substantial contributions of part-time temporary faculty to the education of California Community College students, and
Whereas the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges endorses efforts to enhance job security for part-time temporary faculty, and
Whereas the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges endorses efforts to expand paid opportunities for part-time temporary faculty to contribute to student advisement and to curriculum development, and
Whereas Section 65 of AB 1725 (Chapter 973, Statutes of 1988 - pilot program for option-rollover contracts) was not funded for 1989-90, and
Whereas funding has not been requested by the Board of Governors of California Community Colleges since 1989-90,
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges urge the Board of Governors of California Community Colleges to again seek funding for Section 65 of AB 1725 (Chapter 973, Statutes of 1988), in order to respond to the part-time temporary employees' interest in job security and to fulfill the promise of AB 1725 (Chapter 973, Statutes of 1988).
