Pass Along Process

Resolution Number
Janis Perry
Assigned to
Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum

Whereas the Chancellor's Office has recommended that a condition of receiving program improvement funds be that colleges assume responsibility for certifying IGETC, and

Whereas certification of courses taken at other community colleges and/or private and public universities is extremely labor intensive, as well as a potential risk to academic integrity for the final certifying college, and

Whereas students move frequently from college to college and may require systematic accountability for courses completed toward successful transfer,

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges create an ad hoc committee including community college articulation officers, and direct the committee to develop a proposal for a community college systemwide pass-along process for the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum, which will enable the final certifying college to certify with confidence their own courses, along with those previously certified and passed along from other community colleges.
