Assume the primary responsibility and work with Ed Policies Committee on Diversity through hiring exploring the possibilities of new modes of hiring interviews that better communicate the value of diversity while also ensuring fairness and equal employment opportunity, and report its findings to the plenary body in a breakout and paper.
Status Report

EEO has been added to the charge of EDAC.

Whereas, The rigid interview process in common use throughout the California Community College System emphasizes the importance of sameness and uniformity; and

Whereas, The Academic Senate for California Community Colleges has a history of support for diversity, which entails a celebration of difference;

Resolved, That the Academic Senate explore the possibility of new modes of hiring interviews that better communicate the value of diversity while also ensuring fairness and equal employment opportunity, and report its findings to the plenary body in a breakout and paper; and

Resolved, That the Academic Senate include in its Spring 2003 Plenary Session a breakout on the Fall 2000 paper A Reexamination of Faculty Hiring Processes and Procedures, focusing on interview questions and techniques. MSC Disposition: Local Senates
