Changes were added to the paper in preparation for publication.

Whereas, Faculty have been given the authority in California Education Code to determine the final grade for a student in a course in a community college (see Education Code 76224(a)); and

Whereas, The authority to determine final grades for students remains with the instructor even in cases of academic dishonesty;

Resolved, That the following amendments be added to the paper, "Promoting and Sustaining an Institutional Climate of Academic Integrity:"
1. After the period in line 729, add:
For reference, the California Education Code 76224 (a), giving faculty the authority and responsibility to assign grades to students states:
"When grades are given for any course of instruction taught in a community college district, the grade given to each student shall be the grade determined by the faculty member of the course and the determination of the student's grade by the instructor, in the absence of mistake, fraud, bad faith, or incompetency, shall be final."
2. Add second bullet on page 37, after line 850:
Support local faculty rights regarding Education Code 76224(a), which provides that faculty have the final authority on grade determination, in the absence of mistake, fraud, bad faith, or incompetency.
3. Add to Appendix II at the beginning, line 996, the Education Code section prior to the Title 5 language:
California Education Code 76224(a) states:
"When grades are given for any course of instruction taught in a community college district, the grade given to each student shall be the grade determined by the faculty member of the course and the determination of the student's grade by the instructor, in the absence of mistake, fraud, bad faith, or incompetency, shall be final."
