Whereas the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges at its 1993 Fall Session established the role of library faculty on curriculum committees, and

Whereas the preliminary report "Curriculum Committees: Standards of Good Practice." lists librarians as voting members of the curriculum committee, and

Whereas in the Curriculum Standards Handbook, library sign-off for ascertaining adequacy of library resources is required for approval of credit programs and courses,

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges urge local senates to support the essential role of librarians in the curriculum process and to work toward the greater involvement of librarians in approval of new programs and courses, and

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges recommend that a librarian be a voting member of each college's curriculum committee.
