Whereas community college library faculty, by their academic and professional training, work closely with course and program development across the curriculum, and within the preliminary report of the Academic Senate Curriculum Committees: Standards of Good Practice a librarian is recommended as a voting member of the curriculum committee, and

Whereas the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges

Resolved (14.7 F93) to urge local senates to support the essential role of librarians in the curriculum process and to work toward their greater involvement in approval of new programs and courses, and further recommended that a librarian be a member of each college curriculum committee, and

Whereas the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges has recently formed a standing Curriculum Committee, and

Whereas several faculty positions are already recommended in the curriculum committee, such as counselor, articulation officer, vocational education and basic skills faculty,

Resolved that the Academic Senate direct the Executive Committee to appoint a faculty librarian to its recently formed Curriculum Committee.
