Whereas the California Community Colleges are constantly seeking to develop new and innovative programs having far-reaching impact on the communities they serve, and

Whereas district funds are often limited, and external sources of funding are frequently available through government, industry, and private sources, and

Whereas locating potential sources of funding is a time-consuming process,

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges request that the Chancellor's Office sponsor a central clearinghouse for sources of external funding available to all California Community Colleges, and

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges recommend to the Chancellor that this clearinghouse provide information about sources of funding, suggestions for applying for grants from these sources, and identification of money available and the types of projects preferred by business, government, and private agencies, and

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges recommend that, as funds permit, the clearinghouse also be responsible for conducting a media campaign in which business, government, and private sources would be encouraged to invest in the future of the California Community Colleges by making funds available for grant applications.
