Legislation enacted.

Whereas, Health is an important aspect of student success, and community college student health centers provide healthcare that promotes student success;

Whereas, Students who receive Board of Governors fee waivers are exempt from paying an assessed health fee, and rising student fees have increased the number of students eligible for Board of Governor fee waivers, thus decreasing revenues for student healthcare centers;

Whereas, Lack of funding has caused community college health centers to curtail or eliminate health services for students and in some cases has led to healthcare centers being closed; and

Whereas, Community college health centers are the only source of health care for many community college students;

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges support the proposed revisions to Education Code 76355 specified in California AB982 (as introduced February 18, 2005)allowing local governing boards the option to charge a health fee to Board of Governor fee-waiver students.
