Summary
Hold breakout sessions focusing on the findings of the community colleges that have participated in projects that have examined issues of student equity, retention, and success; and explore working with these projects to promote research-based strategies that will improve student equity, retention, and success.
Status Report

BSI work plus breakouts were held at Fall 2007 Plenary.

Whereas, Several initiatives and projects, such as, the Center for Urban Education, the USC Transfer and Retention of Urban Community College Students study (TRUCCS), and California Tomorrow, have engaged in partnerships with California community colleges to examine issues of student equity, retention, and success;

Whereas, The System Office has actively recommended and/or supported community colleges participation in these projects; and

Whereas, These projects are collecting and examining demographic data using different approaches that may produce a variety of research-based strategies that will improve student equity, retention, and success;

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for the California Community Colleges hold breakout sessions that focus on the findings of the community colleges that have participated in these projects; and

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for the California Community Colleges explore working with these projects to promote research-based strategies that will improve student equity, retention, and success. MSC Disposition: Local Senates
