Whereas student support services, e.g. library, LRC, counseling, and health services, are available on campus to all students attending California community colleges, and
Whereas guidelines for providing viable services to off-campus students enrolled in distance learning courses have not been addressed, and
Whereas without these support services, students may either drop the classes or impact services of other institutions in the area, and
Whereas not providing these services can result in the loss of the college's accreditation,
Resolved that the Academic Senate of California Community Colleges recommend that the Chancellor's Office direct the Distance Learning Advisory Committee to develop guidelines for the delivery and funding of student support services for students enrolled in distance learning classes, and
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges direct the Executive Committee to urge the Distance Learning Advisory Committee to develop guidelines for orientation programs for new distance learning students.
