Whereas the Swann Bill was designed to grant college credit to vocational educators for work experience, and

Whereas these credits are essential for faculty to complete the bachelor's degree within the four-year probationary period, and

Whereas some faculty are unaware of the provisions of the Swann Bill, and

Whereas some faculty have experienced concern that provisions of the bill make it difficult to use within the probationary timelines,

Resolved that the Academic Senate make information about the Swann bill available to faculty, and

Resolved that the Academic Senate investigate the provisions of the Swann Bill and work with the Chancellor's office to propose legislation to ensure that faculty hired without a bachelor's degree can obtain full credit for their previous work experience within the four-year probationary period.
