A FACCC/Senate joint teleconference workshop was presented in January on the basics of Grant writing. The Vocational Leadership Seminars were held March 19 and 20 for the South and March 26 and 27 for the North. One hundreds forty-eight faculty attended representing the state. Topics presented were: Technology - the changing role of the educator in Occupational Education, SCANS, Partnership for Excellence, CalWORKs, Workforce Preparation, Legislative update, and Political Savvy.
Whereas a large segment of California community college students identity themselves as vocational students, and
Whereas business and industry report an increasing need to train and upgrade employees so that they are employable and current in their skills, and
Whereas all levels of government are emphasizing the need to prepare workers for jobs through vocational education, and
Whereas the Academic Senate has supported and encouraged strong vocational programs,
