Fall 2022 Area D meeting is scheduled for Saturday, October 15th, from 10:00AM - 3:00PM.
Please Register Today for the Fall 2022 Virtual Area D Meeting by clicking on the registration link below.
Area D Faculty,
By now all of us are well into our Fall semesters and working hard to offer our students an excellent educational experience amidst the many challenges we face today. Whether your college is back on campus entirely or you’re still working through restrictions and COVID-related policies, it’s my sincere hope that this message finds you well and in good health.
During this meeting we’ll go over some updates from the ASCCC executive committee and the Academic Senate Foundation for CCCs. We’ll also go over the resolutions process and discuss key dates for submission of resolutions and go over the first draft of the Resolutions Packet and discuss the resolutions within. A copy of the agenda as well as an electronic draft of the Resolutions Packet is forthcoming. If you’d like to add anything to the agenda please let me know at least one week before the meeting and I’ll be happy to add it.
We will also have an opportunity to present our own resolutions for consideration at the Fall Plenary in November. If you’re interested in presenting a resolution for the Fall Plenary, please send me a copy of the resolution as a Microsoft Word file by Thursday, October 13th to email@example.com. As with the resolutions in the Resolutions Packet, we won't vote on these resolutions directly during this meeting, however we can vote to move the resolution forward to the Fall Plenary as an area. If you need any assistance formatting a resolution or if you’d like any support in drafting a resolution, please feel free to send me an email and I’ll be more than happy to help you as much as I can. You can also visit the Resolutions page on our ASCCC website for more information on submitting a resolution.
Finally, please mark your calendars for the ASCCC Fall Plenary which is scheduled for November 3rd - 5th in Sacramento and will include a virtual option. You can learn more about the plenary as well as register by visiting the ASCCC website here. If you need financial support to attend the plenary, the Academic Senate Foundation for California Community Colleges is offering 10 scholarships for faculty who wish to attend virtually, and 4 scholarships for in-person attendance. The in-person scholarships will cover travel and hotel expenses but only one of those scholarships will be offered per area. If you’d like to learn more about the ASFCCC Fall Plenary scholarships and/or apply, click here to visit their scholarships page.
I look forward to seeing all of you virtually on October 15th. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or if you need any help with a resolution or registering for the plenary.
