Whereas Title 5 regulations strengthening the role of local senates in governance have been adopted, and
Whereas it is recognized that participation in governance requires a great deal of faculty time to make the process work, and
Whereas the 50% law does not include reassigned time positions in its formula,
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges support the position that faculty reassigned time for participation in governance be counted as instruction for purposes of the 50% law, and
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges reaffirm its position that at least 50% of the budget be spent on instruction and that this percentage be raised to an appropriate percentage to include counselors, librarians, and other non-teaching faculty.
