Whereas the Flex Calendar allows colleges to use up to 15 days of our 175 day instructional year for faculty development, and
Whereas the Flex Calendar does not require an institution to go to an "early start" academic year, and
Whereas well over half our community colleges are already on the Flex Calendar,
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges endorse the idea that our entire community college system be on the Flex Calendar and that colleges need only decide how many of the 15 days they wish to use for professional development, and
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges communicate this rationale to the Chancellor's Flex Calendar Advisory Committee, and
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges recommend that local academic senates study the implementation of the Flex Calendar, and
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges encourage local senates and their districts to use flex time to prepare faculty for their professional, teaching and shared governance roles.
