Status Report

Support Health-fee backfill at consultation council and in legislation. ASCCC supports health-fee backfill in discussions at Consultation Council.

Whereas Student Health Services provide medical/nursing, psychological and other community college public health services, which are funded exclusively by health fees, and

Whereas approximately 20-40% of students are waived from paying the health fee, and

Whereas Student Health Services are called on to provide services for all credit students, and

Whereas there has been a significant increase in demand for complex medical/nursing and psychological services with no proportionate increase in staff to meet this demand,

Whereas Student Health Services have been called upon to provide comprehensive services regarding all district-wide public health/communicable/infectious outbreaks, mandated personnel health requirements per the Educational Code, psychological crises, etc.

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges seek to have the state reimburse districts the equivalent dollars lost because of waivers of the health fee.
