Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges recognize that offering vocational education at the community college level is a viable strategy in community and state economic development, and
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges recommend to the Chancellor's Office that traditional and exploratory vocational programs be maintained and developed through adequate staffing/funding/equipment as a positive method of encouraging partnerships between industry and higher education to respond realistically to employment opportunities in the State of California, and
Resolved that it be the position of the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges that cooperative joint efforts of academic and vocational programs (as recently advocated by Senator Edward Kennedy) be viewed as a viable strategy to increase not only enrollment but also the overall importance of community colleges to the State of California.
